our fruit
Much of the fruit you find in stores is picked well before it is fully ripe. Growers do this so that the fruit can survive the long trip from the orchard to your kitchen. Since peaches don’t ripen once they are picked (although they do soften) the result is a less than perfect peach. At Laguna Gold we don’t have to worry about shipping, so you can pick perfectly ripe peaches. And believe me you can taste the difference. All of our peaches are freestone and all are delicious.
We have a number of heirloom apple trees on the property (Gravenstiens and Johnathan).
These are organically farmed and available in season from early August thru late September. We pick apples once a week and have them available in the shed for sale.
We also use our apples to make cider and have it for sale by glass or the by the quart. The juice is all natural and unfiltered.

Eating a fresh peach is truly one of the best summertime treats. But there is much more to do with fresh peaches. You probably have your own favorites, cobblers, crumbles or even ice cream. At Laguna Gold we have three recipes that you will find delicious.
The soil at Laguna Gold is known as Gold Ridge which consists of a layer of topsoil over many feet of gold colored compacted silt (weathered sandstone). To add organic matter to the soil they add aged manure.
They use a no till approach to farming and manage our ground cover we mow, and where necessary apply weed control. And to discourage our subterranean friends, they use (stainless steel) baskets which help keep our trees happy and healthy

On top of the ground, they use dormant season sprays for fungus (peach leaf curl). We All dropped fruit is used or composted and what isn’t sold is donated to local food banks.
Additionally, much of the property has been left in its natural state. Home to beneficial insects, native plants and critters, large and small. The end result is an orchard that works in harmony with nature.
